Scope and Content Broch at Dun Carloway, Isle of Lewis, Western Isles Dun Carloway is one of the best preserved examples of a broch in Scotland. In places it almost stands to its original height. It is possible to see the basics of its construction as part of the wall has fallen down. This is a view of the front of the broch where the walls have collapsed to first floor level. It shows the entrance with the original lintel in place above it. This is in the SW side of the broch. The entrance passage has one guard cell leading off it. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
