Scope and Content Ground-plan of Banff Town-house, Aberdeenshire Banff Town-house accommodated the town and county councils. The steeple replaced a dangerous one demolished in 1762. The main building replaced the old 16th-century tolbooth which was also demolished in 1794. The local MP donated 100 guineas to the cost. The interior has been changed by modern alterations. In 1842 it had a hall, two large drawing-rooms, a Town-council Chamber, a Sheriff-court, offices for the Town-Chamberlain and Sheriff's Clerk, and a prison. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
