Scope and Content Stonehaven Steeple, Aberdeenshire Stonehaven Steeple was built by the town managers at the request of the burgh feuars as a place to hang a bell. In 1789, the bell was purchased, the plans approved and the contract was awarded. All but two of the steeple's windows are blind. The doorway lintel bears the date 1790. The clock was purchased in the same year. The bell surviving in the belfry probably dates from 1793 and replaced the original one which was thought too small. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
