Scope and Content Burgh arms on Maybole Tolbooth, South Ayrshire Maybole Tolbooth was originally one of two tower houses in the burgh. Around 1673 it was bought for use as a tolbooth by the Earl of Cassillis, owner of the other tower house, on behalf of the heritors of Carrick and the burgh council. The burgh arms are displayed on the gable of the town hall. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
