Scope and Content Stone circle at Moss Farm, Machrie, Arran, North Ayrshire The area about the abandoned steading at Moss Farm contains one of the most impressive concentrations of prehistoric monuments anywhere in Scotland. This includes chambered cairns, stone circles, standing stones hut circles and field systems. This is a view of a circle made up from four low granite boulders and it is unknown whether or not there were more originally. The site was excavated in 1861 when a cist containing a Food Vessel, a bronze pin and some flints was found. The finds are in the RMS Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
