Scope and Content Recumbent stone circle at Old Keig, Aberdeenshire This recumbent stone circle is at Old Keig. It is built on slight bank on the crest of a hill. The recumbent stone is the largest example known. It weighs 53 tons and would have needed around 100 men to bring it up the hill. This is a view of the remains of the circle. The large recumbent and its two flankers are still standing. Only one other stone from the circle remains. A ring cairn stands in the centre. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
