Scope and Content Broch at Carn Liath, Sutherland, Highland Carn Liath broch is built on the edge of a terrace overlooking a flat coastal strip and the sea. The knoll on which it stands has been artificially steepened and it has an outer defensive wall. The ruin has been grassed over to help its preservation. This view of the broch shows both the wall and the steepened knoll. A stone-lined passage led from the outer wall to the broch's entrance in the E.
