Scope and Content Stained glass window inside council chamber of Ayr Town House ('Town's New Buildings'), South Ayrshire The Town's New Buildings were built near the High Tolbooth which they replaced. The building stone came from Cullaloe in Fife through the Forth Clyde Canal at a special cheap rate. The completion was celebrated with an inaugural ball in November 1830. The bell weighs over one tonne. It was made in Glasgow in 1830, but recast in 1897. There is a smaller bell higher up inside the steeple, it is inscribed: SOLI DEO GLORIA DALMAHOY 1700.
