Scope and Content Fort known as White Caterthun, Angus The two hillforts known as Brown Caterthun and White Caterthun are fine examples of the skills prehistoric man possessed in building and engineering. A large workforce must have been needed to provide the timber and quarry stone for the forts. This is an aerial view of White Caterthun. The fort is formed from a pair of stone walls 12 m thick and 3 m high. Inside is a rock-cut cistern, and a more modern rectangular enclosure. Further down the slopes are ramparts.
