Catalogue Number SC 335730

Scope and Content Heraldic plaque and sundial on steeple of Strathmiglo Town-house, Fife Strathmiglo Town-house probably replaced an earlier 16th-century tolbooth. The steeple was added in 1734 and the main block was rebuilt in the 19th century. The heraldic plaque on the steeple bears the date 1734 and displays the name and arms of Margaret Balfour of Burleigh, the feudal superior of the burgh. The sundial may be all that is left of the burgh's mercat cross. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
