Scope and Content Detail of the Dining Room, Central Station Hotel, No 99 Gordon Street, Glasgow The Central Station Hotel, built for the Caledonian Railway Company, was extended in 1900-5 by James Miller to include a magnificent double-height dining room. The interior was photographed in 1906 by the architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The room has carved woodwork and elegant plasterwork by W Scott Morton and the Bromsgrove Guild. The table in the corner is dwarfed by the great display of royal arms over the fireplace, and the magnificent light fitting decorated with figures of mermen. The Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts was founded in 1898 in Bromsgrove in the East Midlands. This unique organisation of craftsmen gained an international reputation for the high quality its work, especially in metalwork, woodcarving and plasterwork. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
