Scope and Content Nos 1-6 Craighuchty Terrace, Aberfoyle, Stirling Craighuchty Terrace, a row of six houses in an English Arts and Crafts style, was built c.1890 to the designs of the Glasgow architect, James Miller, and photographed shortly after completion by the architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The terrace shows subtle changes in the rhythm of the façade: the larger half-timbered gables project over the bay windows; the smaller form gableted dormers set flush with the upper tile-hung wall, and rising through the eaves. The terrace is a good example of Miller's English Arts and Crafts style: prominent chimneys and gables, half-timbering and tile-hung walls. Each house, however, has a personal identity, although collectively, the composition reads like a single unit. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
