Scope and Content View of the New Board Room, Glasgow School of Art, 167 Renfrew Street, Glasgow The new Board Room of the Glasgow School of Art, originally the Secretary's Room, was redesigned in 1906 to replace an earlier Board Room. This photograph, taken in 1910 by Harry Bedford Lemere, shows its splendid wood-panelled interior. The room, lit by three sets of nine lights in copper shades, has eight carved pilasters around its walls. Square grids appear in the windows, walls and ceiling, and the interior and the furniture were designed by the architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The large round central wooden table and its accompanying armchairs with their pierced motif of nine squares were among a number of pieces of furniture originally intended for the Director's Room on the first floor, and have been recently installed there.
