Scope and Content Billiard Room, Inglewood, Tullibody Road, Alloa, Clackmannan This photograph of the billiard room of Inglewood was taken in 1900 by the distinguished architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The house, home of the wealthy mill-owner, A P Forrester Paton, was designed by the architect, Sydney Mitchell. The room, oak panelled to door height, has comfortable seating and luxurious cushions around the walls. The frilly silk shades on the electric light fitting over the table were the height of fashion at the turn of the 20th century. The billiard room, in the male domain of the house, was isolated on the first floor, and was where men could smoke outside the company of ladies, although the style of this particular room suggests it has been decorated with female occupation in mind.
