Scope and Content 18-24 High Street, Kinghorn, Fife Kinghorn was a royal burgh by about 1170. It had a weekly market from 1285, but was not represented in parliament until 1470. Much of the burgh was rebuilt in the 19th century when the linen industry brought new prosperity. No trace remains of the burgh's mercat cross which once stood in the High Street where most of the houses date from the 18th and 19th centuries. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
