Scope and Content Recorded on the mounted print: 'Scottish National Buildings Record. Shire: Fife. Place: Pittenweem. Building: 23, East Shore and 1 Water Wynd. Photographer: F.B. Date: July 1963'. 23 East Shore, Pittenweem, Fife Pittenweem became a burgh of barony dependent on its Augustinian Priory in the 15th century, and a royal burgh in 1541. Appearing in records in 1228, its port harboured a thriving fishing fleet, and was home to merchants trading with the Low Countries. Number 23 East Shore was rebuilt in the 19th century. Its exterior has been covered with plaster, or stucco, painted to look like regular masonry, or ashlar. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
