Scope and Content Cross-incised stone, St Mary's Church, Monymusk, Aberdeenshire In the 7th and 8th centuries simple crosses were incised on stones and boulders. They were probably an indication of Irish missionary activity in Scotland. There are also examples in Ireland. The swastika design is very unusual. It is a variation on an equal-armed cross.
