Scope and Content Symbol stone known as Clach an Tiompain (or The Eagle Stone) at Strathpeffer, Highland This slightly damaged cross-slab stands in its original position. It is a good example of a Pictish stone with the symbols deeply incised. The Gaelic name actually means the sounding stone. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. At the top is an arch. This lies over a fine carving of an eagle. The top of the stone has broken off. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
