Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Meigle 1 at Meigle, Perth and Kinross This cross-slab is now in Meigle Museum. It was found in the churchyard and was reported as having a skeleton underneath it. Cup-marks on the base suggest that this stone had an earlier purpose. Several other carved stones were found in the area. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. The face has a cross carved in relief and decorated with fine interlace. The cross is surrounded by animals and beasts, some intertwined. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
