Scope and Content A broad loch with reeds at the edge, reflecting the densely wooded shores across the water. The water in the centre of the loch is rippled by the wind. Many ducks are swimming in the calm water by the reeds. The woods are composed of conifer trees. The village was so named as once there was a ferry across the loch here. It is now the base of the Speyside Steam Railway. The loch is now famous for the ospreys which breed on the loch shores.
