Scope and Content The excavated Roman city of Volubilis lies at the foot of the Atlas mountains in Morocco. Today it is the largest Roman archaeological site in Morocco. This view shows on the right the Arch of Caracalla, situated at the end of the Decumanus Maximus, the main street of Volubilis. The arch was built in 217 by the city's governor, Marcus Aurelius Sebastenus, to honour the emperor Caracalla.
