Scope and Content Broch at Carn Liath, Sutherland, Highland Carn Liath broch is built on the edge of a terrace overlooking a flat coastal strip and the sea. The knoll on which it stands has been artificially steepened and it has an outer defensive wall. The ruin has been grassed over to help its preservation. This is a view of the inside of the broch from the W. The entrance passage is in the E wall. The remains of a scarcement ledge can be seen at the top of the inner wall. Much of the inner wall is from a house built inside the broch from fallen material. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
