Scope and Content Free Church, High Street, Dingwall, Highland The Free Church was built in 1867-70 by John Rhind. The steeple to the left of the main front was originally intended to be taller. Unfortunately, the foundations were not adequate for a larger structure. The Free Church of Scotland was created as a result of the Great Disruption of 1843 when nearly a third of the Church of Scotland's ministers left to form a separate church.
