Scope and Content Salmon-bothy at Dunbeath, Highland The salmon-bothy at Dunbeath is part of the herring- and salmon-fishing station which developed in stages around the mouth of the Dunbeath Water from the early 19th century onwards. The bothy is built so that its gable with no windows or doors faces the sea. This helps to insulate the inside from the cool sea breeze. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
