Scope and Content Kylesku Ferry, Sutherland This ferry crossing is probably very ancient. Motor vehicles were conveyed from early in the 20th century, in vessels of increasing size as demand grew. The early 19th century rubble ramped pier had by i976 been replaced by a larger concrete one. This view shows the ferryboat 'Maid of Glencoull' which was put on the service by Highland Regional Council in 1975, and which had a capacity of 18 cars. She is seen at the south end of the ferry crossing. The ferry was replaced by a bridge in 1984, and this vessel was transferred to operate the Corran Ferry south of Fort William.
