Scope and Content On the summit of Ormond hill are the remains of Ormond Castle, the seat of the Ormands in 1179 It was destroyed by Cromwell in 1650. All that remains now are turf covered footings, the foundations of 3 courts on the summit, banks and ditches on the NE side. It was surveyed by NOSAS and Avoch Community Archaeology group in 2016.
