Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Scope and Content A general view of the village with the Golf Course centre right. Just above and right of centre at the northern end of a long open fairway is a green with a curving segmented bunker on its left. This has been created on top of Castle Hill Henge. Below it on the left hand edge of the fairway is a barrow. In the uppermost of three parallel ploughed fields lower left, a roundhouse or pit circle has been noted in the top right hand corner and another, or perhaps a sunken floored building, in the upper left. In the field below it a ring ditch has been recorded. A little above and extending left of the henge a woodland stretches left towards a bungalow and the final clump of tree cover a motte. In the top left the Glen Ord Distillery stands out prominently. Directly below it but above the arc of new housing is a line of trees and the buildings furthest left include the Broomhill water mill and associated steading. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
