The Police HQ is at top left. Raigmore Hospital began as a facility under the Emergency Medical Scheme and took its first patients in 1941. Wards were built of brick in separate blocks. In 1962 plans for a new general hospital to serve Inverness were put in place and Phase 1 incorporating the Outpatients Department, laboratories, pharmacy and records, was completed in 1971. Phase 2 was opened in 1985, providing wards to replace the old blocks. A maternity unit was built on the site of the original wards in 1988. Maggie's Centre, was opened in 2005. The Raigmore Estate was built the grounds of Raigmore House, which was used as Fighter Command HQ during WW2. Raigmore House was built in the C19 and demolished in the 1960s. Inverness Golf Club was formed in 1883 and in 1885 some land at Culcabock was acquired and a nine-hole golf course was established on that site. More land was made available to extend the course by 1895 and a modern clubhouse was built in 1908. The Police HQ was opened on this site in 1975.
