Scope and Content Craig Dunain hospital, previously known as the District Lunatic Asylum, was built in 1864 with the addition of a large recreational hall in 1927 and a new chapel in 1963. The boiler house and laundry are to the right, beside the nurses' home. As more mentally ill patients were cared for in the community it was eventually closed in 2000. It is now converted to flats and units for private residential use. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
