Scope and Content This provides a close view of the north-east section of Invergordon. The distillery buildings are to the north-east of the tanks, some of which are on the lower left of picture. Invergordon Distillery was founded in 1959 and Ben Wyvis Distillery was built in 1965. Officers' housing can be seen on the shore to the right of the tanks and at far right is the hospital which started life as the Military Hospital, became the County Hospital and was opened as the Invergordon County Community Hospital in 2005. The green rectangle to the north of the distillery is the site of the aluminium smelter, built in the 1960s and closed in 1981. Ord Farm is at centre right.
