Scope and Content This is a view of the area of Inverness which covers both sides of Old Edinburgh Road from the Hilton Hospital roundabout at the top right to Hilton Primary School, which is just out of picture at centre right. This view is dominated by the Recreation Ground, surrounded by Berneray Court, Lochiel Gardens and Edington Road. Just coming into picture towards top right is the easily recognisable white building which was Hilton Hospital and has now been converted into flats. Hilton Hospital was built as the Inverness Poorhouse between 1859 and 1861. It then became Muirfield Hospital and then Hilton Hospital when it specialised in geriatrics. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
