Scope and Content This view from a closer angle shows the harbour, Royal Hotel, former hemp works, Marine Terrace, Storehouse and coastal station. Cromarty became prosperous in 13C with the herring and grain industry. In 1760 the hemp works were built, hemp was imported from Russia and Spain and spun in the hemp works before being exported from the harbour to London.
