Scope and Content This image shows Brig of Balgownie over the Don in the heart of Old Aberdeen. The bridge, comprising a single gothic span in ashlar with the parapets slightly corbelled, was built circa 1320, repaired circa 1444, largely rebuilt in the early 17th century, and repaired in 1861 and circa 1877 when buttresses were added to the approaches. On the L of the bridge is a chapel and, to the R, a row of historic cottages. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
