Aerial view of Crow Wood ring ditch cropmark, Muir of Ord, Easter Ross, looking E.

SC 1967577

Description Aerial view of Crow Wood ring ditch cropmark, Muir of Ord, Easter Ross, looking E.

Date 8/2003

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1967577

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content The substantial cropmark, seen more clearly on SC1967576, only faintly appears on this image between two prominent dark gullies although the JS Bone image reproduced in Highland Council HER does show this more clearly. This is also described as Logieside or Duchary Henge but could equally be a homestead motte constructed perhaps in the 12th century AD. There was an external circular bank around this feature when first recorded but this appears now to have been ploughed away. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
