Scope and Content Craig Dunain former mental hospital is to the left. The hospital, originally known as the Northern Counties District Lunatic Asylum, was designed by James Matthews and opened in 1864, with later additions, including a new chapel (1965), it was closed in 2000. In the centre of the photo is the works department, church and nurses hostel (main foreground). Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
