Scope and Content In the foreground is Abercalder swing bridge which carries the A82 over the Caledonian canal. Above it are the abutments of the previous old bridge. To their left is the Bridge of Oich suspension bridge, a double cantilever chain suspension bridge built circa 1850, probably by James Dredge. Until 1983 it carried the public road over the River Oich. Just above the modern bridge, on the R bank of the canal, is the lock keeper's cottage.
