Scope and Content On the undulating S-facing slopes of Balnacoil Hill, in open moorland, is an extensive system of field walls, clearance cairns and hut circles. At least four hut circles are visible in the image, diagonally across the centre, within the curving dyke in the foreground. At the very top, beyond the straight dyke, are the remains of the settlement of Ascoile. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
