SC 1906823

Description An oblique aerial view of Torseiller, Strath Brora, Clyne, Sutherland, looking S.

Date 2000

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1906823

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content A general view of much of the former township with cultivation ridges, consumption dykes and enclosures within a head dyke dominating the image. There are longhouses in the lower right, above it to the right, and a third lies further right again and higher up. Between those last two structures and to their left a drying kiln has been built into a steep bank. In a number of places the faint outlines of possible earlier enclosures and buildings can be seen and there is a suspiciously circular mound to the left and a little above centre. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
