Scope and Content The photo looks at the quarry faces of Daviot quarry which opened in 1948, now operated by the Breedon group supplying crushed rock and aggregates. Occupying the flat summit of the rocky hill above the quarry is Dun Davie, the mutilated remains of a sub-oval fort, with a possible vitrified outer defence, probably early Bronze Age to Pictish. It is listed in the Atlas of Hillforts of Britain and Ireland. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
