Description Oblique aerial view of enclosures and clearance cairns at Cnoc an Torra Mhoir, Sciberscross, Strath Brora, Sutherland, looking SW.

Date 2000

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1903250

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content To right of drystane dyke is part of an extensive field system, with numerous clearance cairns, alignments of turf (or stone and turf?) suggesting cultivation plot boundaries, and a conspicuous stone enclosure. Just beyond the enclosure, the dyke bisects an unrecorded boat-shaped mark which may be the site of a longhouse of 3 compartments (including probable byre), presumably pre-dating the dyke. To left of dyke are two unrecorded enclosures. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
