Scope and Content The railway line between Inverness and Perth is in the foreground. Caulfield Road is at the top, near the line of the military road between Stirling and Fort William constructed between 1748-53 under the direction of Major Caulfeild. His HQ and barracks were on the site of Cradlehall business park (left). In the area in the centre an archaeological evaluation was undertaken in 2004 prior to new housing development. A small pit containing a rim sherd of Neolithic pottery was found. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
