Description Aerial view of Moy, S of Inverness, looking NNE.

Date 1999

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1903050

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Loch Moy is in the foreground. Left of centre is Moy Hall, home of the Clan Mackintosh chiefs since the 14th century. The original house was on an island in Loch Moy. The 19th century Moy Hall built c1872 was demolished after World War II having been overcome by dry rot. The replacement, a modern country house retains various features from the old building. There are references to boat houses by the loch, and an ice house. Behind the hall are farm workers cottages, stables and cart sheds. The area shown on the photo is now (2020) much changed as the grounds are used for the annual Moy Game Fair. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
