Date 1998

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Scope and Content The fort of Easter Rarichie, on a knoll 650 yds S of Easter Rariche farm house, is at right of the photo. There is a circular stone walled structure on the summit referenced as a dun or round house, dated circa BC 400-200, possibly after the fort fell into disuse. To the left is Wester Rariche Dun, in a good defensive position with a similar circular structure on its summit. Later investigations identify it as a turf walled round house. Both Easter & Wester Rarichie were excavated by University of Aberdeen in 2013. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
