Date 1998

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1896331

Scope and Content A wide view of the Torrish Burn passing under the A 897 with a recorded kerb cairn visible on the hillside above and to the left of the bridge. An unrecorded older bridge lies to the right of the current one. Various other unrecorded features are visible - circular and rectangular structures below the bridge and extending left within the strip of ground adjacent to the burn, a long house in the green area left of the road and right of the river in the upper left, some straight lines of shadow below the older bridge in the centre of the image which look like the remains of at least one more long house and enclosure. The latter site is now a lorry park! Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
