Scope and Content Avoch is a fishing village on the Moray Firth. The village developed following the construction of the harbour in 1814. There are many C19 cottages in the record. Ormond Castle is on the rounded tree-covered hill south-west of the village and at centre left in this view. It is said to have been built c. 1179 but was destroyed on the approach of Cromwell's army. It was surveyed by NOSAS and the Avoch Community Archaeology Group in 2016. Munlochy Bay and then the Beauly Firth can be seen towards the top of picture. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
