Scope and Content Ormond Castle is among the trees at the bottom of picture. It is said to have been built c. 1179, at the boundary between the Norse world and Alba, but was destroyed on the approach of Cromwell's army in the C17. It was surveyed by NOSAS and the Avoch Community Archaeology Group in 2016. Avoch is towards the top of picture. Avoch developed in the C19 when the harbour was built, incorporating the settlements of Seatown, Kirktown and Milntown.
