Scope and Content Invergordon was built as a fishing village in the mid C18, enlarged in the C19 and a naval dockyard was established at the beginning of the C20, taking advantage of the deep water channel. The town has many sites associated with naval activity during both world wars, including the fuel depot which can be seen coming into view at top left. Invergordon now acts as a maintenance centre for oil rigs and welcomes cruise ships to the Highlands during the summer months.
