Scope and Content The Ord is an area lying to the west of Lairg with a large number of cairns, hut circles and field systems and an archaeological trail has been established starting at the Ferrycroft Visitor Centre. Lairg itself is a crossing point for four roads and benefits from being on the North Highland Railway Line. It also has a livestock market. It is believed to be the site of an asteroid impact crater, dating to 1.5 billion years ago. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
