Scope and Content A wide view of Portmahomack with the old primary school in the centre, surrounded on three sides by the golf course. In the top right, within its walled burial ground, the old parish church on the site of a Pictish Monastery. The church is now a museum with a large collection of early medieval carved stones. The monastic site, excavated by Prof Martin Carver and a team from York University during 1995-2006, extended into the field to the left and above the church. The mill and industrial area lay here with evidence of metal, leather and glass working. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
