Scope and Content This is a general view looking over the southern part of Inverness towards Lochs Ness, Ashie and Duntelchaig which are at top of picture. Culcabock Golf Course (established 1885) is at centre bottom and behind it is the Hilton estate which was developed after WW2. To the right of the Hilton Estate are Lochardil and Holm, both developed in the 1960s and 1970s. Just to the left of the trees at centre and on the very margins of the built-up area is the Inverness Royal Academy, which moved from its site at Midmills to this new school in 1977. Excavations at Culduthel and Slackbuie, prior to development, uncovered evidence of a prehistoric landscape in the area on the left of picture, partially obscured by the plane's wing.
